History of Kumbha
According to the old Hindu scriptures, at the time Samudra Manthan, Amrita came out of Samundra in a pot. A holy creature took the pot and flew away to save Amrita from Asuras. Numerous Hindu mythology describes the creature who drifted away with the pot as Garuda, Indra, Mohini, and Dhanvantri. Four drops fell out from the pot on the four different places while carrying the Amrita pot. Consequently, we recognize these places as the spiritual places to conduct Kumbha.
